About This Tour

Los Haitises looks the same from every boat — the karst islands rise straight from the water, the mangrove channels hide everything that does not want to be seen, the caves hold paintings older than the country. But how you see it changes everything.

Twenty-five guests maximum. Not fifty, not eighty. Quieter approaches to the cave entrance. Longer time inside under cool stone walls where pre-Columbian Taíno painted what they saw. Slow drift through the mangrove channels — the kind of access only a smaller boat allows, without the wake of three other operators ahead of you.

Seven hours, your group only. Cast off at 8:00 AM from Samaná Town Marina, cross the Bay of Samaná, enter the park, explore the caves at San Gabriel and La Arena, swim from the platform at a hidden cove, eat a Dominican lunch onboard or park-side. Back by 3:00 PM. Captain and multi-lingual crew the whole way — English, Spanish, French, Italian.

🐋 Whale Season (15 January – 31 March)

Every year from mid-January through the end of March, the Bay of Samaná becomes one of the world's most important humpback whale sanctuaries — thousands of humpbacks migrate here to mate, give birth, and raise their calves.

Your crossing to Los Haitises passes directly through their breeding territory, and during this window whale sightings are highly likely. Your captain slows the boat for observations whenever whales are visible — mothers with newborn calves, massive breaches, tail slaps, and the distinctive songs of male humpbacks.

Whales in the morning. Taíno caves and mangroves the rest of the day. This is Samaná at its most spectacular.
