About This Tour

There's a moment, about thirty minutes out of Samaná Town Marina, when the engine settles and someone in your group says it without anyone planning to: this was a good idea.

The bay opens ahead, Cayo Levantado sits low on the horizon, and there are no other guests on the boat. Just your people, the captain at the wheel, and a cooler that does not run out.

Six hours, your group only. Cast off at 9:00 AM, cross the Bay of Samaná to the original Bacardi Island — the small palm-shaded island made famous in the 1970s rum commercials.

🐋 Whale Season (15 January – 31 March)

Here's what makes this crossing special: every year from mid-January through the end of March, the Bay of Samaná becomes one of the world's most important humpback whale sanctuaries. Thousands of humpbacks migrate here to mate, give birth, and raise their calves in these warm protected waters.

Our route to Cayo Levantado passes directly through their breeding territory, and during this window whale sightings are highly likely. Your captain slows the boat for observations whenever whales are visible — you might see mothers with newborn calves, massive breaches, tail slaps, or hear the distinctive songs of male humpbacks. This is one of the great natural spectacles on Earth, and you're right in the middle of it.

At the island: white sand, calm turquoise shallows on the north side. Snorkel gear is ready when you want it. Otherwise: swim, walk, eat, do nothing in particular.

Lunch is served beachside — fresh seafood, Dominican plates, with the open bar onboard running throughout the day.

Tour Itinerary

9:00 AM — Cast off, Bay of Samaná Cross the bay toward Cayo Levantado. Around 45 minutes of open water. From 15 Jan to 31 Mar, humpback whale sightings are highly likely.

9:45 AM — Arrival at Cayo Levantado Drop anchor near the island. Beach access included — palm shade, soft white sand, calm turquoise shallows on the north side.

10:00 AM — Snorkel + Free Beach Time Snorkel gear when you want it. Otherwise: swim, walk the sand, relax under palms. Your call.
