Eight in the morning. Flat light on the water, the fishing pangas still coming in, and the whole coast north of town completely empty.
Mornings are the calm half of the day on this coast. The wind has not filled in yet, the swell is down, and the hour-long sail up to Playa Blanca is about as smooth as the Pacific gets here. The catamaran anchors off a private beach with nobody on it. Because the boat cannot come in close, the swim to the sand is part of the deal - a short one, and it changes with the tide. Floats are on board.
You get the beach for a few hours before the day heats up, then sail back into town for midday. Trolling lines go out both ways if anyone wants to fish. This is the sail we recommend for families, for anyone who gets seasick on choppy afternoon water, and for guests who want the rest of the day still ahead of them.
