When the bite is 40 miles out, the boat matters. The 50 ft Viking cruises at 23 knots — you're on the grounds fighting marlin and yellowfin while slower boats are still burning fuel.

Between fish: two air-conditioned staterooms, two bathrooms, a full kitchen and an onboard BBQ the crew fires up for lunch. Not fishing today? The same boat runs island-exploration beach days with snorkel gear and a dinghy for shore landings.

There was so much space on the boat to lounge, relax and put our stuff away. We had a whole day excursion and went to the a shallow pool and Saona Island.
